A Special Issue
We are excited to share that our Junior Members have begun receiving the latest edition of our publication, Junior Kredit. This special issue is designed specifically for our young members and focuses on two key themes: growing plants and growing their savings with their credit union.
What Junior Kredit Includes
Each junior member aged 3 – 12 years old, will receive a booklet along with a packet of either beetroot, pea, or bean seeds chosen for their suitability for young gardeners and their ideal planting season. The booklet includes step‑by‑step instructions on how to grow each seed type, along with competitions, fun activities, environmental information, savings tips, and much more.
Competitions
One of the competitions invites junior members to share photos of how their plants are progressing. We look forward to seeing their gardening success throughout the season.
The Specialists
For this special edition of Kredit, we collaborated with seed experts at the Irish Seed Savers, from whom we sourced the seed packets. They also provided valuable guidance on how to grow the plants successfully. Speaking about this ESG initiative, Alan Duff, Business Development Manager, said:
“This forms part of our continued work in the area of ESG over the past few years, which has included beach cleans, beehives, tree planting, and reducing paper usage. We wanted to create something that gives back to our young members while helping them learn more about nature and how to grow their savings. By teaming up with the Irish Seed Savers, we were able to bring in their expertise. Once the seeds start growing, we look forward to receiving plenty of photos showing the plants’ progress.”
This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to ESG within HSSCU and represents a targeted approach to engaging younger members. We are delighted to encourage as many junior members as possible to take part and learn a little more about the natural world.
