Bursary Payout
We’re thrilled to announce that HSSCU has added €30,000 to the Betty Noone Bursary Fund, bringing its total value to €150,000. This makes it one of the largest supports of its kind offered by a financial institution in Ireland, putting money directly back into the pockets of our members.
Supporting Our Members
This year, we paid out a total of €148,450 to successful applicants, helping members cover a wide range of costs, from toddler art lessons to final-year college fees. The bursary is made possible by our members choosing HSSCU for their financial needs. Reinvesting surplus funds into our members is a key tenet of how we operate and sets us apart from other financial service providers.
Luke Casey, HSSCU Marketing Manager had this to say, “At a time when everyone is feeling the pinch, we’re proud to provide additional support by adding €30,000 to the existing fund of €120,000, putting money back into the accounts of our members.
This is an exclusive benefit of being a member of HSSCU and is not offered elsewhere. We have paid out €148,450 in total this year, which goes straight back to our members and, in many cases, their families.”
Application Process
We encourage members to apply for the bursary and to keep their receipts to ensure a smooth application process. We acknowledge there was a delay in issuing payments this year and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Looking Ahead to 2026
The bursary is a retrospective payment, so we encourage future applicants to retain all relevant documentation in preparation for next year. Applications will open in summer 2026, and having your paperwork ready will help us process applications more efficiently.
Due to the high volume of submissions, processing can take time. Full details on what is required can be found by clicking here.
Eligibility Reminders
Submitting the correct paperwork speeds up the decision making process and helps us issue payments faster. A small number of applicants were deemed ineligible due to:
- No transactions on their account
- Incorrect year of documentation
- Missing paperwork
- Secondary school expenses
- Fees paid to other institutions
This affected only a small number of applicants. Please ensure you meet the eligibility criteria before applying.
We’re proud to support our members through the Betty Noone Bursary and hope the funds help ease financial pressures. Keep an eye on our website and social media channels for updates on when the bursary will reopen for applications next year.
