Betty Noone Memorial Bursary

Betty Noone Memorial Bursary

For the last number of years your credit union has supported members’ educational pursuits through the Betty Noone Memorial Bursary, named after our esteemed former treasurer Betty Noone. Through this bursary, successful applicants will receive a contribution towards fees that you have already paid for an educational, personal development or cultural course. The course can be something you, the member, has undertaken yourself, or one you have paid for on behalf of your spouse or children. Courses can be academic or artistic including music courses and yoga teacher training etc.

The bursary fund of €120,000 is awarded to applicants who fulfil the criteria. Grant amounts are €500, €250, €100 or €50. We guarantee €500 x 50 and €250 x 200 grants. The remainder are contributions of €100 or €50. Where there are surplus funds more €250 grants will be issued.

Last year, 50 grants of €500 each were granted to members. 275 members received €250 and 260 members received between €100 and €50 through our Betty Noone Bursary.

Applicants must be members of the credit union 6 months prior to applying for the bursary and their credit union account must be in good standing during the relevant grant period.

A minimum balance of €50 must be maintained in this account for a minimum of 6 months prior to the closing date of this bursary. There must be a minimum of 1 transaction per month on the applicant’s account (not including the car draw).

If both of a child’s parents or guardians have accounts, both parents cannot apply for grants for the same child.

The Board of Directors decision in all matters relating to this bursary is final.

The deadline for applications is 31st July 2017.
