Accessibility
HSSCU has endeavoured to make this website as accessibile as possible to all. Whilst every effort has been made to facilitate all the needs of our members there may be some users who still experience some difficulties in using our website. If you encounter any such issues please contact the credit union directly.
This website has been built with web standards in mind and as such should be viewable in all web browsers. However as modern web browsers allow us to do things that older browsers do not you may experience some things differently if you are using an older web browser. Using the latest version of your web browser guarantees the best web experience. To upgrade your browser please visit the appropriate link below:
In order to provide you with the best user-experience the HSSCU website uses the World Wide Web Consortiums Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 as a basis for its accessibility features. Some of these guidelines are highlighted as follows:
Text Alternatives
Images that convey important information have alternative text. Where an image is used for a decorative purpose the empty alt attribute (alt="") is used.
Semantic Markup
This site has been developed using semantic markup which improves usability for screen readers.
Tables
Tables are used to markup tabular data only. They are not used for layout.
Meaningful Sequence
The reading and navigation order (determined by code order) is logical and intuitive.
Use of Colour
Color is not used as the sole method of conveying content or distinguishing visual elements. Text links are distinguishable by more than simple colour changes. Where appropriate an additional element is used (such as the appearance of an underline).
Text colour has an acceptable contrast ratio when compared to the background colour.
Text Size
The page is readable and functional when the text size is doubled.
Visual Presentation
Blocks of text over one sentence in length:
- Are no more than 80 characters wide.
- Are NOT fully justified (aligned to both the left and the right margins).
- Have adequate line spacing (at least 1/2 the height of the text) and paragraph spacing (1.5 times line spacing).
- Have a specified foreground and background color. These can be applied to specific elements or to the page as a whole using CSS (and thus inherited by all other elements).
- Do NOT require horizontal scrolling when the text size is doubled.
